iPhone 支援 Apple Pencil 的传闻每年也有，不过 Steve Jobs 当年一句 "Who wants a stylus? " 令 iPhone 不敢支援 Apple Pencil。今年仍有一些消息指 iPhone 将支援 Apple Pencil 但仍不算主流。然而，iOS 13.1 Beta 1 的 Release Notes 中出现了一些证据，可能暗示 iPhone 11 也许真的会支援 Apple Pencil。
Apple 的 iOS 13.1 Beta 1 Release Note 中有以下一句：
If your app links PencilKit, and its deployment target is iOS 13.1 or later, you can now submit it to the App Store. (53811027)
如果你的 App 支援 PencilKit 及目标支援 iOS 13.1 或以后，现在你可提交到 App Store。
以往，只有 iPad 才支援 Apple Pencil，而 iOS 13 已分拆成 iPadOS，因此 iOS 只对 iPhone 作支援，而 iPad 则用 iPadOS。现在 Apple 表示 PencilKit （要令 App 支援 Apple Pencil 就要透过 PencilKit 加入支援）支援 iOS 13.1，意味着 iPhone 也将可使用 Apple Pencil 。
